New Names for the Blog

23:49 fun

When I decided to develop a blog the biggest hurdle I had to overcome was choosing a name for it. I literally thought about it for hours and could only come up with “blondelibrarian’s blog.” It wasn’t until I started reflecting on culture shock that it became “Culture Shock and the blondelibrarian.” The funny part is, since then I have been inspired and now have three possible names for my blog should I ever decided to rename it.

The Daily Hairball

This is my first choice for a rename. It really describes my life. With my long hair I always have to pull hair out of the bathtub drain. But more importantly with two long-haired cats I have to clean up a hairball almost daily.

Diary of a Mad Housewife

I am also very fond of this title. I am not cut out to be a housewife. My mother-in-law, who has always been one, has a very precise schedule. She vacuums on Thursday, does laundry on Monday, etc. When I first started staying home I tried this, and I swear it was literally driving me mad. Now I do things when I feel like it, therefore my carpet hasn’t been vacuumed for three weeks!

Atomic Tzatziki

This one actually is the name of my rock band should I ever form one. But I think it would be good for a blog too. In case you don’t know, tzatziki (probably not spelled right) is a Greek (or Turkish depending on whom you talk to) yogurt dip that you use instead of ketchup on Greek food… it is especially tasty on gyros. Since A. is half Greek we eat a lot of Greek food and I had his mother show me how to make it… except I made some improvements. One was to add more garlic. The first time A. tasted my tzatziki he said, “Wow now that is atomic!” Hence we started calling my tzatziki “Atomic Tzatziki.” But I still think it would be a good name for a band…

I wasn?t critiquing your ?American Identity? post, but after reading my comment, I can see how that might have appeared that way. Anyway, it was a good read along with the follow up, ?Patriotism vs. Nationalism?, and I agree with your comment about ?Americans are taking their feelings of superiority, or perhaps more precisely nationalism, and unfairly slapping the term patriotism on them.? That is precisely what I was thinking when I wrote my comments.

As for the blog name, personally, I like ?Atomic Tzatziki?.
