The Contents of My Purse
18 September 2004

They say that the contents of a woman’s purse say a lot about her. What do you think the contents of my purse say about me?

  • Book (currently Nick Hornby’s High Fidelity to read on the train into town - or anywhere else for that matter!)
  • Large light blue hair brush with lots of blonde hair
  • Half-full bottle of Volvic Water
  • Purse-pack of tissues
  • Wild Berry Smint
  • Umbrella
  • Sack of (Caribbean-style) trail-mix
  • Digital camera
  • Sunglasses with pink and purple tinted lenses
  • Fingernail file
  • Pen and pencil
  • Eye drops
  • Carmex
  • Strawberry-flavored Labello lip balm
  • 2 old reciepts (one from a bookstore, the other from a craft store)
  • Rubber band
  • Purple velvet ponytail holder
  • Passport
  • Subway map
  • Munich street map
  • Small mirror
  • AAA battery
  • Oh Yeah… My Wallet (with assorted business cards, credit cards, and about 20 euros)
  • But NO kitchen sink!

I’ll tell you what this list told me about myself… I may be prepared for anything, but it wouldn’t hurt me to clean out my purse once in a while!

Hi blondelibrarian, thanks for visiting, leaving nice comment and shared your purse?s content. I enjoyed reading it and can see your favorite color is pink/purple :).

When I was a kid I had a crush on Mary Poppens. I knew it was you Mary!

Good lord doesn’t your back hurt from carrying all that stuff around? And do you really carry your passport with you all the time, or was it just today? I am scared to death of losing the thing, I never, ever need it in Sweden so I just leave it at home–even if we drive out of the country.

Normally, I don’t carry ALL that stuff… it just so happened I was downtown and had stuffed a bunch of things into my purse. I hadn’t yet cleaned it out before I posted. As for my passport, I don’t carry it all the time, but I have no other form of ID. I am worried about getting asked for some and not being able to provide any.

    Hi,
Just and advise from an expat!!!.
Make a copy of your passport and take it with you. Leave your passport at home. Just to be safe.

Wonder how big is your bag??
    Have a great day

How much do you figure all that stuff you’re carrying is worth?

That’s not as bad as my purse!
Actually my purse itself only has my wallet, keys, cell phone, a pen, small bottle of asprin, tic-tacs, lip gloss and my asthma inhaler…
But I usually carry the purse in another bag that has a book, a small stitching project, a magazine, a bottle of water, my makeup bag(that holds a mirror, lipstick and a few other items), and my disc man(in a case with a few CDs & batteries) LOL
