The Snowdrop Fairy
25 March 2005
Here she is! The “Snowdrop Fairy” is complete! The backstitching definitely makes this piece in my opinion. Before the addition of it she was very abstract. ![]()
If I was to this pattern again (and I just might… I have been thinking about getting the book these Flower Fairies are in) I would most definitely do it on Evenweave rather than Aida cloth. (Since the rules of our robin indicate we must stitch on Aida, I didn’t have any choice this time.) The reason that I would stitch it on Evenweave rather than Aida is not because of the cross stitching itself, it was almost completely full stitches (there were a grand total of 4 three-quarter stitches) after all. No, I would stitch it on Evenweave because of the backstitching. Many of the details on the wings, the hands, feet, and especially the face of the Snowdrop Fairy required quarter stitches and trying to poke a hole into the Aida cloth on top of the stitching was a pain… not to mention that I was worried it would mess up the stitching.
She is finished and looks very good in my opinion. However, with this piece I have discovered a very disagreeable aspect of a Round Robin… I don’t get to keep her! I have to send her on and I will never see her again except in pictures. Boo Hoo! ![]()
