Hello Daylight Savings Time!
I just watched my atomic clock “spring” forward. (For those of you in the US, Daylight Savings Time comes a week early here.)
Oh dear, it is now 3am: I must go to bed!

Here she is! The “Snowdrop Fairy” is complete! The backstitching definitely makes this piece in my opinion. Before the addition of it she was very abstract.
If I was to this pattern again (and I just might… I have been thinking about getting the book these Flower Fairies are in) I would most definitely do it on Evenweave rather than Aida cloth. (Since the rules of our robin indicate we must stitch on Aida, I didn’t have any choice this time.) The reason that I would stitch it on Evenweave rather than Aida is not because of the cross stitching itself, it was almost completely full stitches (there were a grand total of 4 three-quarter stitches) after all. No, I would stitch it on Evenweave because of the backstitching. Many of the details on the wings, the hands, feet, and especially the face of the Snowdrop Fairy required quarter stitches and trying to poke a hole into the Aida cloth on top of the stitching was a pain… not to mention that I was worried it would mess up the stitching.
She is finished and looks very good in my opinion. However, with this piece I have discovered a very disagreeable aspect of a Round Robin… I don’t get to keep her! I have to send her on and I will never see her again except in pictures. Boo Hoo!

Today marks my third wedding anniversary and before you ooh and ahh too much over the nine (9!) beautiful roses that A. gave me, keep in mind I got them using this not-so-subtle hint:
We were driving back from the store yesterday and just so happened to see a woman carrying a bouquet of flowers down the street. I had been looking for a way to “remind” him that it was our anniversary and that I wanted some flowers.
Seizing the opportunity, I remarked, “Oh, that’s right. Tomorrow is Good Friday. If you want to get me any flowers for our anniversary you should do it today. Everything will be closed tomorrow.”
A. looked at his watch (it has a date) and exclaimed, “Damn! Is is that day already?!”
In my experience I have found that with most men, “subtle” hints don’t work. Don’t play around. Just tell them what you want. You will be amazed at the results!
