Stitching with the Seasons
13 April 2005

Here in southern Germany spring has finally sprung! There may still be a little snow in the mountains, but for the most part everything has started turning green. The trees are budding, the flowers are poking up, the birds are twittering, and it just simply smells like spring!

Spring is my favorite season of the year. I always feel rejuvenated and I love to stitch in the spring. It is so nice to sit in my stitching chair with the windows open and be able to stitch with the natural light a little longer each day.

And boy do I love stitching spring themes! Flowers, watering cans, baby animals, etc. and what’s more, I prefer to stitch these themes in the spring.

In fact, I have noticed that as my stitching has evolved it seems to follow the pattern of the seasons. I use light colors in the spring, bright colors in the summer, and darker colors in the fall and winter. I stitch many variations of flowers in the spring and summer and I would only stitch a snowman or other wintery themes in the fall or winter. (The exception to this, of course, being WIPs that I start in one season but don’t finish until another.)

This, of course, brings me to this week’s Stitching Blogger’s Questions and that is:

Do you “stitch with the seasons?” (This could be reflected by the colors that you stitch with, the themes that you choose, or even that during your favorite season you stitch more (or less) than in others.)
