Well, after I put a few hours into ” ‘Tempest’ in a Teacup” on that Aida cloth I decided I wasn’t happy with it. The pattern has so many ¾ stitches and it is just so much easier (and neater) to do them on Evenweave, so I started the pattern over on the Evenweave that I hand-dyed last week. It is stitching up so much faster and neater now…
I have read the following quote on many a stitching bb; “Life is too short to stitch on bad fabric,” and I think it is so true. Even though I wouldn’t consider that Aida “bad” (in fact, it is very good quality Aida cloth) it didn’t take long for me to realize there is a reason people don’t stitch TW’s on Aida! Ah well, live and learn I guess… ![]()
In fact, I wouldn’t have even started “Tempest” on the Aida cloth, but I really thought I wanted to use that particular piece of fabric. And I do. I still like that fabric a lot, but I have decided whatever ends up being stitched on it must not have very many ¾ stitches because I have come to the conclusion that I really, really dislike doing them on Aida!
Perhaps I will stitch an EMS on it: It seems to me that most of her patterns don’t have many ¾ stitches.
