What If…
14 September 2005

Today we have a thought-provoking SBQ suggested by AngelSan and it is:

Do you stitch for events like weddings, engagements, or other things that might not last? If you have been unlucky and the two people broke up, what happened to
your stitched gift?

In all of my stitching years, I have only stitched two wedding samplers: One was for my mom and my stepdad who have been married for six years now, the other was one that I stitched to celebrate my own wedding. It never even entered my mind when I stitched either sampler that I was stitching for something that might not last, even though nowadays I guess that is always a possibility. Luckily, in both cases the parties are still together and enjoying the samplers that I did. :)

However, if my mom and stepdad were to break up, even though she might put it away, I am sure that my mom would keep the sampler. After all, even though I stitched both their names on it, she knows that I really made the sampler for her and she is quite sentimental about keeping things like that.

I am the same way. If Hubby and I were to break up, I know that I would keep the sampler that I did for us. Although that period of my life would officially be over, I know that I would still retain some good memories and the sampler would represent them to me. I would probably no longer display the sampler, but I don’t think that I would be able to part with it. I guess I am sentimental that way too.

Answered. Thanks, Renee. By the way, I spent a whole lot of time frogging stitches on the RR last night. I was almost finished when I realized that I started the table one row too low! It’s okay, it’s not taking me long at all.
