Pansy Sachet
4 November 2005
Today I did a little finishing. I decided to take a piece that I stitched last spring and finally turn it into a little sachet for my lingerie drawer.
I have been thinking that this particular piece would make a good sachet since I finished it, but wasn’t really sure how to go about making one. Then last night right as I was drifting off to sleep, I had a brainstorm on how to make a sachet: So I decided to try it out today.
I don’t know how original this idea really is, but what I did was I finished the top of the sachet with a hemstitch and put the sides together using a whipped backstitch. I then made some cording and threaded it through, filled it with potpourri, and tied it shut. It went together with only one small glitch… the only potpourri I had in my house was something called “Winter Star”. It smells very good and very much like Christmas, but my sachet has a summer flower on it! ![]()
When I finish pieces I usually do a lot of modifications of any instructions that I might have, but this is the first finishing idea that I came up with all on my own. Therefore, I have written up a tutorial for it if anyone is interested in making a sachet of their own. I will also be adding a link for the tutorial in the side bar for future reference.
