I’ve Been Carded!
21 December 2005
I don’t send out Christmas Holiday Cards anymore. The first year that I lived on my own I tried to send them out and I even bought a box of 50 Christmas Holiday Cards from the Boy Scouts, but thirteen years later I would venture to say that I still have at least 40 left out of that box of 50.
I could blame my failure to send Christmas Holiday Cards to even my closest relatives on my humbug nature against Christmas, but the truth of that matter my anti-holiday spirit really has very little to do with it. The leading reason that I don’t send cards is simply because I am too lazy to write, address, stamp, or mail them.
Naturally, since I don’t bother to send anyone Christmas Holiday Cards I really don’t expect to receive any… even though since I have moved overseas I usually get one from my mom and my step-mom. However, for some reason unbeknowst to me this year I am the proud recipient of a grand total of four physical cards and one electronic one. Though I am still waiting for the card from my mother, in addition to the mandatory one that I got from my step-mother, I have also received two from friends, one from the in-laws, and one from my aunt.
In fact, I am so impressed with the plethora of cards that I have received that I have been kicking around the idea of digging out that box of Boy Scout cards and sending them to the people that have been kind enough to think of me this holiday season… then again, since they would be so incredibly late and the post office is so busy right now, maybe I will just wait until next year.
