Mouse and I have been working on this picture for about a week now. OK, actually I have been working on getting this picture for about a week by racing to get the camera every time I find her in the bathroom sink. I then spend the next half hour trying to get her to look at me so that I can take the picture.

As you can plainly see from this photo, she is a beautiful cat and really very photogenic when she wants to be. However, she is also as stubborn as she is beautiful and for this particular “cat in sink” endeavor her stubbornness has been both a help and a hindrance.

In this specific enterprise her stubbornness has been helpful because, amusingly enough, the reason that I am able to spend half an hour trying to get her to pose in the sink is because she wants me to turn on the water faucet so that she can get a drink. She is so patient stubborn that she will wait in the sink literally for hours to drink from what she sees as her own personal water fountain.

On the other hand, her stubbornness has been a hindrance because as soon as she sees me approaching the sink with the camera in hand she turns her back and refuses to look at me. Calling her only gets her attention for a split second and has resulted in about 100 digital pictures that contained nothing but a blurry brown streak because she has this habit of turning her head away from me in defiance just as I snap the camera.

Now I am sure you are wondering exactly how I finally managed to get this photo. I would love to say that I had some wonderful trick up my sleeve, but I must admit that it was nothing so grand. I think she finally realized that I wouldn’t put the camera away until I took her picture so she reluctantly complied. The reason I think this is because she has that same look on her face as I get on mine when Mom wants to take pictures at Christmas.

So, just what is it about cats in sinks anyway? We may never know for sure, but if you visit Cats in Sinks.com you will find a whole lot of pictures of cats in sinks!

(*) Perhaps Aristotle didn’t write this down in any of his works, but I am sure it was a question that he philosophized about.
