Winter Quaker Exchange Received

Winter Quaker Exchange for Aniza When I stopped by the SBEBB a little bit ago, I saw that Aniza has received the exchange that I stitched her for the Winter Quaker Exchange.

This was the first time I had ever attempted anything Quaker and to be honest at first I wasn’t exactly sure what constituted a “Quaker” design, so before I even started the stitching I had to do some research!

After some investigation, I found some Quaker freebies to my liking and since I don’t think they get much snow in Malaysia I thought it would be fun to send Aniza a Quaker snowflake or two. Consequently, I chose to stitch two snowflakes in B5200 on some 25 count baby blue Lugana.

At first I was going to make her a little scissor fob, but after a little bit of thought I decided to try my hand at making my first biscornu instead. I absolutely loved making the biscornu and couldn’t believe how easy it was. In fact, my 6 year old niece “helped” me do the finishing by picking out the center buttons.

Though I enjoyed expanding my stitching horizons and trying my hand at a Quaker design, I can’t say that the style made that much of an impact on me and I doubt that I will stitch another any time in the near future.

The biscornu on the other hand… I will definitely be making some more of those! :D

SAT Goal Met!

Celtic Spring, Progress as of 21.01.07 - Click for a larger image! This weekend was our monthly stitch-a-thon over at the Robin’s Nest and my goal was to finish the geometric designs on the right-hand border of “Celtic Spring.”

It was a small goal because I worked on Mae most of last week and only had one and half motifs left. However, I chose a small goal because we had my nephew’s first birthday party yesterday and I wasn’t sure how much stitching I would get to do this weekend.

Luckily I managed to get more stitch time this weekend than I thought I would, so not only did I finish the designs on the right side, I managed to get about half the ones on the left side done too!

Now, according to my sophisticated guesstimation system, I am now about 70% finished with this project. I am not quite ready to venture a guess as to when I will be finished with Mae, but I am going to aim to finish her by March 11, 2007… exactly one year to the day since I started her.
