You will never believe what my mom got me into!
First of all, I don’t know if I have ever mentioned it or not, but my mom is quite a seamstress. Right now her passion is piecing quilt tops, but in my youth she did alterations around town and sewed many, many of my clothes. As a result, her sewing skills are well-known around my community.
A couple of weeks ago, she got a call from the Extension Office. A workshop was being organized for the 4-H groups of our county and they wondered if she would be able to put on a sewing workshop Saturday, March 10.
Unfortunately, Mom had to turn them down because she has to work. However, if they were looking for something “crafty” my mom mentioned that perhaps I would be interested in doing a cross stitch workshop… After all, I have been teaching my niece to stitch.
So, later that day I got a call from the Extension Office asking me if I could put on said cross stitch workshop. And because I am a former 4-Her I said yes.
Saturday I will be teaching anywhere from 5-25 3rd through 6th grade students how to cross stitch! Wish me luck!

Oh, wow, what fun!!! They didn’t have 4-H where I grew up and I was always so jealous of the kids who could join it. I wish they had it here, where my kids are growing up.
Have lots of fun showing the kids a great craft!!!

That sounds like so much fun. I used to teach archaeology in the after school program to kids that age. I hope you enjoy it and you all have a great time.

How cool! Good luck. Please let us know how it goes. I’d also be interested in knowing how it’s organized — did you provide materials or did they; did you pick the pattern; etc.

You will do a great job and the kids will think you are so cool! Your next project needs to be a workshop for adults like me who are “craft-challenged” and would love to learn to stich as well as you do! Give it some thought!

Wishing you good luck and a lot of patience. What a great chance to share our love of stitching with another generation. What design are they going to learn to stitch?
