Americana Sampler
24 June 2007 04:07 finishing, happy dances
I finished this cute little sampler last evening and since I would like to have it on display for the Fourth of July holiday, I plan to finish it into either a needleroll or a flat-fold very soon (i.e., sometime in the coming days). Mom suggested I just simply frame it in order to be sure I would have it displayed by the Fourth, but I poo-pooed the idea. After all, I didn’t learn all those finishing methods for nothing!
For this particular piece I think the finishing method will largely depend on what type of finishing materials I find. If I can find some ribbon with (American) flags on it then I will finish it off as a needleroll and if I find some fabric with (American) flags I will make it into a flat-fold.
Though the Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays, I am far from patriotic. Instead, I have always looked at the Fourth as a celebration of summer. Therefore I really like the way this pattern combines the flags with the more general summer symbol of the watermelon… I hope you do too! ![]()

Very nice design! You’re right, it does combine the flags nicely with a summery theme.
I can’t wait to see what you do with it!
