bird Summer in Autumn
26 October 2008

Summers Magic; Progress as of 26.10.08 - Click for a larger image! It had been so long since I got to stitch on something besides the Autumn Chair that I almost didn’t know what to stitch this weekend!

My indecision didn’t last long though: I decided to pull out “Summer’s Magic,” my SAL with Dawn, and work on it a bit. I actually thought I had worked on it last month, but according to my records the last time I took a progress pic of it was on August 18. Geez, where has the time gone?

I have been thinking about revamping my rotation again (I’ll bet you had forgotten that I rotate my projects… I nearly had!), but I am not exactly sure how to do it given my sporadic stitching time these days. In addition to my SAL and the RR I am in, I currently only have three WIPs so I actually don’t have much to rotate. I do have 3 or 4 projects waiting in the wings, but I haven’t started them because I keep reminding myself I barely have time to work on the things I do have started.

Ah… What to do, what to do?

How can a blonde be a librarian? Librarians are smart, intelligent, and boring, right? Then again, how can a librarian be a blonde? Blondes are dumb, ditzy, and sexy, right?

Being blonde is not always easy. Laugh if you want, but blondes suffer from discrimination. It is the type of discrimination that is subtle and usually hidden in the form of jokes, but it’s there. Many people assume that just because I am blonde I am ditzy, stupid, or both. It is something that I have dealt with for years and as a result I have spent much of my life working to prove that I am not either of these things.

Some people have suggested that since it is easy to change one’s hair color, a simple way that I could end this discrimination is to just not be blonde. However, even though I want to be seen as intelligent and grounded, the simple fact is that overall I like being blonde.

But everyone needs a change now and again, so for the next 28 shampoos you may refer to me as the strawberry blondelibrarian. :)

bird Late Finish
19 October 2008

Latest Finish: 19.10.08, Autumn Chair - Click for a larger image! Well, it’s been over two months, but I finally have another happy dance! :)

I took advantage of this weekend’s SAT to give my needle a workout and finish my square for Chris’s RR. Unfortunately, I will be five days late mailing this round, but c’est la vie!

I have already received the next (and final) round of this robin from Dawn. Next up for me is Veronica’s Margaret Sherry’s 12 Days of Christmas robin. I will be stitching Twelve Drummers Drumming. It’s the last square on the entire robin and a very cute dog banging away on a drum set. (I know… I’m not normally a dog person, but this is Margaret Sherry!) Compared to what I just finished the square is tiny and Margaret Sherry designs usually stitch up fast, so I don’t think I should have much of a problem getting it finished by our next date (December 15).

Wow! Does this mean I might actually get to stitch for ME one day soon?

Autumn Chair; Progress as of 09.10.08 - Click for a larger image! Here is my latest progress on the Autumn Chair for Chris’s RR.

I keep plugging away at it when I have the chance in the hope that I won’t have to extend next week’s October 15 post date, but unfortunately midterm has managed to sneak up on me. As a result, I have a couple of pretty big projects due before next Wednesday that will have to have priority over any stitching. I guess that is the nice part about being the organizer of a round robin though…having the power to change the mailing dates if you need to. ;)

Other than that I have absolutely no other stitching news to share, so I guess I will just leave it at that.

P.S. For those of you who may have been wondering… Dawn and new baby Megan are doing fine. She has just been kind of busy lately!
