Six Random Things
13 November 2008

Thankfully I was tagged by Anna to do this, because otherwise tonight I would have nothing!

Anyway here are six random things about me:

1.) I have an incredible sweet tooth. I love refined sugar so much that I consider it to be one of my main food groups. There are days when the only things I eat are sweets. In fact, I will eat cookies, cake, or candy, and not think twice about washing said cookies down with a can of Coke. (No Diet Coke for me!) I suppose it’s nothing short of a miracle that I’m not as wide as I am tall…

2.) I HATE to floss! I know I’m supposed to do it, but I just don’t like it. It makes my gums bleed and I hate the taste of blood in my mouth. (Yes, I know that if I would floss more often my gums *supposedly* wouldn’t bleed.) When I was at the dentist the other day the hygienist made me feel guilty enough about my aversion to flossing that I vowed that I will try to floss more often. We’ll see how long it lasts.

3.) I can’t spell. I think I have mentioned this before, but I feel like I can’t defend myself enough on this point. What I probably haven’t mentioned is that I don’t think my inability to spell is my fault. I think it’s genetic. Nobody in my family can spell.

4.) Considering I am a librarian, I actually own remarkably few books. This doesn’t mean I don’t read. I read all the time. However, I prefer to check books out from the library. I am a librarian, not a book collector and I fail to see the purpose of owning a whole lot of books that I will most likely only read once.

5.) I am what I call a “reformed nail-biter.” Like many other bad habits, nail-biting is something you never completely abandon. In order to keep myself from biting my nails, I like to keep my hands busy, which is one of the reasons I cross stitch. I also carry fingernail clippers with me wherever I go so that anytime I get tear or chip in my nail I can clip it before I bite it.

6.) I started reading Twilight tonight. So far, I like it, even though I feel that Bella is a just a little too much of a “damsel in distress” at this point. I may or may not review here it when I am finished. (I anticipate I will finish it sometime this weekend.) We’ll see how desperate I am for posts later. ;)

    I’m glad I could be of help! I can’t spell either–and I’m a writer. I spend a lot of time on dictionary.com.

Twilight is on my wait list at the local library - just not sure if I want to read it due to the seemingly whinyness of Bella. Please post a review :o)

First of all, good job posting the past few weeks! You’ve kept me very entertained while I should be working!
I bet you do finish Twilight over the weekend. All of the books kind of sucked me in and I finished them quickly. I rarely go to the theatre to see movies, but I am going to see this. I will likely hate it though, because the book is always better than the movie in my humble opinion.
    Happy Reading! :)

Hee, hee I agree with just about all six of these things.

Try this floss: http://www.pickyguide.com/health_and_beauty/product/reach_gentle_gum_care_woven_floss_fresh_mint_50yard_dispensers_pack_of_9.html (In case the link doesn’t work, it’s Johnson & Johnson Reach Gentle Gum Care). It’s very, very soft! I’m struggling to describe it, but it’s kind of “puffy” like rayon floss, only the fibers aren’t as tough as rayon. It’s two puffy plies twisted so it collapses down to nothing going between your teeth, then expands a bit to get the “stuff” out, but it’s very soft on the gums. Once you get used to it, you could move up to something “sturdier” if you wanted….

I have been wanting to get my hands on Twilight for months now. The waiting list at the library is just too long.
So I think, for now, I will interlibrary loan two others, read Clan of the Cave Bear now, and snag A Wolf at the Table once it gets back in. That should keep me busy.
Like you said, I don’t want to own something I may never pick up again.
