In addition to having class last week, I have been going through a bit of a stitching slump for almost the past month. My stitching hasn’t come to a stop, but it has definitely been in slow motion lately!
During this little slump, I have been pacifying myself by knitting, but since last weekend was SAT weekend I thought I would start a little something new and see if I could get motivated again. I am not sure I am completely re-motivated (which is probably OK seeing as I need to spend most of my time focused on my studies for the next few weeks), but I at least had a successful SAT with this little happy dance.

I really like this design and can see myself stitching it over and over again. But for now I need to get back to studying for my Romantic Poetry exam tomorrow! Ta!

I know that Dawn didn’t work on “Harvest Witch” this past weekend, but since it was SAT weekend and I was about a week behind, I did. Now, with the exception of a wee bit of backstitching, Dawn and I are basically at the same juncture concerning Harvey: We are just waiting for our Kreiniks to arrive so we can finish her!

This was SAT weekend and for it, (as you might just be able to make out) I started “Harvest Witch,” which incidentally will also be my Sunday SAL with Dawn.
I am sorry the progress picture is so dark and wonky, but today when I pulled out my trusty little Canon A300 all was dark. I poked, prodded, and even changed the batteries to no avail. With no warning, (It was fine when I used it the other day) my almost four year old digital camera was dead. I had to use the camera on my phone for this amazing! progress picture and well, let’s just say that as soon as I am done here I will be headed to Amazon or somewhere similar to compare and price new cameras.
I am a little sad that my camera died. It has been the pictorial companion to this written chronicle that I refer to as my blog for the past four years. It has been with me through some very happy times as well as some devastatingly sad ones. So, in spite of a certain someone’s opinion of it when I first got it, I feel like the money I paid for it was well-spent.
However, I must admit that I am just a little pleased that it expired. Obviously since it is an electronic gadget, it has been out-of-date practically since the day I bought it so I am rather eager to upgrade to a new model. I have learned a little bit about digital cameras since I bought it and know what features I will be looking for as “must haves” and which ones aren’t nearly as important as they seem.
Meanwhile, I will attempt to coax decent pictures out of my cameraphone and just hope nothing too camera-friendly presents itself to me.

The cats and I successfully arrived in Arkansas last night about 9:30pm. The trip turned out to be 13½ hours and was made bearable by listening to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
One of my “101 Things” is to listen to the Harry Potter books on “tape,” so I took the opportunity to check them out of the library over break. I had never listened to an audio book during my travels and I must say that I really enjoyed the experience.
This weekend was also stitch-a-thon weekend. My goal was to finish Outi’s birthday exchange and/or work on “Fairy Flora.” I finished the birthday exchange before the weekend, so I worked on Flo. Since I knew I would be traveling part of the weekend, I didn’t have any specific goals but I managed to work on her for about 4 hours and get some more flowers done. I hope to be able to start working on her wings soon.

As this was the third weekend of the month, it was stitch-a-thon weekend!
Because I would really like to get “Above the Clouds” and “Poet’s Heart” finished by the end of the year, I chose to work on “Above the Clouds” this month. As you can see, not only am I nearly done with the clouds now, I also tackled some backstitching. I tell you, a happy dance is so close that I can nearly smell it!
I must confess that I didn’t stitch as much as I could have this weekend though: I spent half of the day today finishing one of the books I started back in August while I was jet-setting around going to job interviews.
I was about half-way finished with The Virgin’s Lover by Philippa Gregory when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows fell into my hands. As a result, the story of the first two years of Elizabeth I’s reign and her affair with Sir Robert Dudley had to wait until Lord Voldemort was thoroughly defeated.
All in all, it was a perfect weekend: Drinks with friends, stitching, and reading. What more could a single girl wish for?
