A Witch with Hair

Too Cute to Spook, Progress as of 18.05.09 - Click for a larger image! …and part of a hat! Here is this weekend’s SAT progress on my SAL with Dawn.

I really had quite a Stitch-a-Thon yesterday as I spent all day locked in my house stitching and catching up on all my Netflix movies. It was a nice day with some much needed rest. I went to three graduation parties over the weekend and I was sorely in need of some me time.

In other news, I found out this afternoon that I got an A in my creative writing class. I was so excited that I shared the news with a friend at work when I found out and she said, “Did you expect any less?” Well, no… but still… :)

My New Toy

Four Seasons Cats - Fall, Progress as of 18.04.09 - Click for a larger image! I have been dying to make the following announcement all week: (If you follow me on Facebook this announcement isn’t going to come as any surprise. )

Drum roll please…

Last week I got a new laptop. And not just any laptop either… I got a MacBook! :) And I L-O-V-E love it!

Although I have used Macs a little bit in the past I have always been a PC girl, so this is quite a change for me. What, you may ask, brought about this change? Well, to put it simply, I was ready for a new computer and didn’t want to have to deal with Vista. Sure, I know that I could have put XP on a new laptop, but it just seemed silly to me to buy a new computer and then essentially downgrade it.

I did a lot of research comparing Macs and PCs, but honestly, what finally sold me was a demo I saw of the Mac OS X. It is taking a little time to get used to my new Mac, but it’s mostly little things and I am enjoying the challenge.

Because I have been so enamored with my new MacBook I didn’t do much stitching last week, but this weekend was the Stitch-a-Thon, so I decided to put some time into “Four Seasons Cats – Fall.” I made some good progress on it too. Although there are a lot of color changes and tons of quarter stitches, the square is stitching up relatively painlessly so I don’t have much more to say about it at the moment except at this rate maybe I will have a happy dance soon.

SAT Weekend Stitching

Four Seasons Cats - Fall, Progress as of 22.02.09 - Click for a larger image! Even though I was only home for part of this month’s Stitch-A-Thon weekend, I did manage to get a fair amount of stitching done.

On Friday night I worked on “Four Seasons Cats – Fall.” As you may remember, this is a project I started a couple of years ago that turned into a UFO. I then organized a round robin and used it for my project, but when it came home to me last week one of the squares was only about 25% complete.

The stitcher who was supposed to stitch this square had some life issues come up and so I had her send it on to the last stitcher incomplete. She offered to finish the square after the last stitcher finished, but I decided it would just be easier if I got my fabric back and finished the square myself. Right now I only have two WIPs (”Fairy Flora” and “Spring Queen”) so it’s actually no big deal to stick “Four Seasons Cats” back into my rotation. (Wow! Only two WIPs! How exactly did that happen I wonder?! )

Today I beaded some more on Flo. I have now finished the beading of her wings and have moved on to her scepter. I actually think that I am probably a little over half finished with the beading now. As I look at the chart I see that I still have to bead her dress, but the majority of the beads really seem to have been in her wings. I decided not to take a progress pic of the beading tonight though because I am going to try and get one tomorrow when it is still daylight and see if I can’t get a better shot of all the bling!

Late Finish

Latest Finish: 19.10.08, Autumn Chair - Click for a larger image! Well, it’s been over two months, but I finally have another happy dance! :)

I took advantage of this weekend’s SAT to give my needle a workout and finish my square for Chris’s RR. Unfortunately, I will be five days late mailing this round, but c’est la vie!

I have already received the next (and final) round of this robin from Dawn. Next up for me is Veronica’s Margaret Sherry’s 12 Days of Christmas robin. I will be stitching Twelve Drummers Drumming. It’s the last square on the entire robin and a very cute dog banging away on a drum set. (I know… I’m not normally a dog person, but this is Margaret Sherry!) Compared to what I just finished the square is tiny and Margaret Sherry designs usually stitch up fast, so I don’t think I should have much of a problem getting it finished by our next date (December 15).

Wow! Does this mean I might actually get to stitch for ME one day soon?

Autumn Chair SAT

Autumn Chair; Progress as of 21.09.08 - Click for a larger image! It was SAT weekend this past weekend and although I didn’t stitch a whole lot over the weekend (blame it on Mr G who took me to a fund-raiser on Saturday), I did manage to squeeze in a few hours’ stitching on the Autumn Chair for Chris’s RR yesterday before I buckled down and continued reading the latest book for my Wednesday evening class.

It probably doesn’t look like I a did a whole lot this weekend if you just do a glancing comparison between today’s progress picture and last week’s, but I did over two hours of backstitching before moving on to the leg of the chair!

I’m afraid that’s it for today… I need to get back to reading The Education of Henry Adams.
