Summer’s Magic

I was about to say that I have been a woman of few words lately, but that is not true. I have actually been a woman of many words. However, the words have been for my writing class, not my blog.

I know that I was going to try and blog my writing class, but it hasn’t really worked out that well for some reason. Luckily using the blogging medium to post my writing journal wasn’t required. It was just a personal experiment.

Alright. On to the happy dance! As you can see, my stash order finally arrived so I was able to finish “Summer’s Magic.”

Latest Finish: 13.02.09, Summers Magic

I am *this* close (holds up index finger and thumb less than a millimeter apart) to finishing “Summer’s Magic” but I ran out of 368!!! And for some odd reason, I couldn’t find one stinking skein of it in my mountain of extra DMC! :x

However, all is not lost. I chose instead to look at the silver lining in what could have easily been the cloud of stitching defeat.

I used my situation as an excuse to visit my ONS and order not only some 368 (3 skeins to be exact… don’t want to run out again) and other assorted DMC, but also the beads for “Fairy Flora,” some fabric, and a couple of charts. I mean, if I am going to have stash shipped to me I might as well make it worth my while, right? ;)

The Last Day

Summers Magic, Progress as of 04.01.09 - Click for a larger image! On the last day of my Winter Break I made the executive decision to do nothing but stay in my pyjamas and stitch all day while watching one of my favorite stitching series, Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

I was wondering what to work on when I received a call from Dawn asking me if I wanted to SAL today on “Summer’s Magic.” Sounded good to me! :)

Here is “Summer’s Magic” after an approximate five hour stitching session. I made some great progress today! All the sand is now finished. Next time I work on it I will backstitch what I did today and then move on to the big dragon. I predict that I can probably finish it in two (or maybe three) more sessions like I had today. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dawn finished today though because when I saw her “Summer’s Magic” at Thanksgiving she was about two stitching sessions ahead of me.

Unfortunately I have to go back to work tomorrow but all the stitching, sleeping, and reading that I did over the last week and a half was good for the soul. I feel refreshed and ready to start thinking about the spring semester.

Two WIPs, One Post

I have plans later this evening which involve dinner and wine so I doubt I will have a chance to post later.

Although I haven’t stitched very much this week due to work, class, and the ever-closer term paper (it’s due Wednesday), I have stitched a little bit on “Cool Fall Cat” so I thought I would quickly show my progress.

I haven’t stitched on “Summer’s Magic” for over a week, but since I had the camera out I thought I would show the progress I have made on it too, so here you go.

Wow! What a quick way to get my NaBloPoMo post in for the day! Now I am off to get ready for dinner! :)

Summer in Autumn

Summers Magic; Progress as of 26.10.08 - Click for a larger image! It had been so long since I got to stitch on something besides the Autumn Chair that I almost didn’t know what to stitch this weekend!

My indecision didn’t last long though: I decided to pull out “Summer’s Magic,” my SAL with Dawn, and work on it a bit. I actually thought I had worked on it last month, but according to my records the last time I took a progress pic of it was on August 18. Geez, where has the time gone?

I have been thinking about revamping my rotation again (I’ll bet you had forgotten that I rotate my projects… I nearly had!), but I am not exactly sure how to do it given my sporadic stitching time these days. In addition to my SAL and the RR I am in, I currently only have three WIPs so I actually don’t have much to rotate. I do have 3 or 4 projects waiting in the wings, but I haven’t started them because I keep reminding myself I barely have time to work on the things I do have started.

Ah… What to do, what to do?
