Holiday Happy Dance

Latest Finish: 15.12.08 Margaret Sherrys 12 Days of Christmas - Click for a larger image! OK everybody: Let’s do a Holiday Happy Dance!

Yep, tonight I finished “12 Drummers Drumming” for Veronica’s Margaret Sherry “12 Days of Christmas” round robin. I am going to try and take a picture of the whole thing tomorrow because it’s cute as hell… And damn BIG!

I hope that this won’t be my last 2008 happy dance, but it just might be. It depends if I decide to work on “Fairy Flora” or if I try and knock off a quick ornie or two before the end of the year. We’ll see…

I am about ready to write up my 2008 year in review, work on reorganizing my rotation, and think about my 2009 goals… but not quite. Christmas Winter Break has already started for the student in me, but the (approximate) ten days off for the University employee in me don’t start until next week and that is one of my projects for then.

Wow! It’s amazing what I can get done stitching-wise when my nose isn’t buried in American literature.

Weekend Break

Margaret Sherrys 12 Days of Christmas, Progress as of 14.12.08 - Click for a larger image! As you probably figured, I took a break from Holidailies this weekend. I actually did it on purpose because I felt like I was starting to crack from the pressure of attempting to blog everyday. So aside from upgrading my blog from Wordpress 2.6.5 to Wordpress 2.7, I stayed away from my blog this weekend.

Instead I watched movies and stitched. I finally saw the Sex and the City movie, but must admit that I only got about a dozen stitches in before I finally gave up trying to stitch while watching it. It was just too much of a visual spectacle to be able to stitch while it was on. I would only consider myself a moderate Sex and the City fan, but I really enjoyed the movie. It was fun to watch.

When I finally did sit down I pulled out Veronica’s robin and worked on “12 Drummers Drumming.” Technically the mail date is tomorrow, but as you can see I still have backstitching to do so I probably won’t get it mailed off until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Luckily I am done with my class so I actually have some time to stitch in the evenings for a few weeks. Yea! :)

On the 12th Day

Margaret Sherrys 12 Days of Christmas, Progress as of 08.12.08 - Click for a larger image! … of Christmas my true love gave to me twelve drummers drumming…

I thought I better start Veronica’s UFO RR square because even though I am stitching the twelfth day our mailing date is before the end of The Twelve Days of Christmas.

Anyway…

The “Twelve Days of Christmas” is a Margaret Sherry design and as such, my little drumming dog is stitching up pretty quickly. I am unsure if I like the 931 that is called for in his ears, but I guess since he is a musician a little blue hair isn’t all that unusual.

I have to say that it is kind of fun stitching this design during the Christmas season because I am really enjoying Margaret Sherry’s interpretation of the song.

I don’t want to steal Veronica’s thunder, but when I am finished with my square I will have to post a picture of the entire robin so everyone can enjoy Margaret’s version of The Twelve Days of Christmas. :)

A Stitchy Finish and a Non-Intro

Welcome Holidailies readers! My name is Renée and I am your blogger. I was going to write an intro, but considering I have been blogging for almost five years, I have done plenty of “about me” posts. Here are some of the best ones:

I Love Vacation!

Cool Fall Cat, Progress as of 24.11.08 - Click for a larger image! Let me repeat that… I love vacation because I get to stitch! :) After I did the requisite errands today so I can head off to Arkansas tomorrow and I took a little nap, I spent the rest of my day stitching. (Warning to any burglars thinking about breaking in and robbing me while I am gone: I have four attack cats that will rip you to shreds if you step over my threshold and I am taking all my expensive/important things with me. So nah, nah, n’a boo boo on you!)

Anyway, today I worked on my “Cool Fall Cat” and got all of the cross stitching done. Obviously I still need to backstitch, but once I do that I will have a pretty big happy dance because the fall cat is the last of the four cats! I started it last December… in fact, I started it last time I was visiting Dawn. How appropriate that I will finish it there as well.

I did notice however that for some odd reason I seem to have backstitched the winter cat in 3799. The chart calls for the cats to be backstitched in black and that is what I used to backstitch the spring and summer cats, so I have no idea what I what possessed me to backstitch the winter one (it was the first one I stitched) in 3799 instead.

I am trying to decide if I should rip the 3799 out and re-backstitch it in black or just leave it. All four cats are on one piece of fabric, but unless you are really looking it isn’t that obvious that the winter cat is backstitched in a different color. I will ask Dawn her opinion when I see her, but as of now I am leaning towards leaving it because it is such a pain in the ass to frog backstitching.

Eh, we’ll see…
