Vacation Stash and Stitching

Austrian I, Progress as of 23.12.09 - Click for a larger image! Last week I went to Las Vegas for Christmas vacation and while I was there I met Juls for her Wednesday morning stitching group. However, before I could sit down with all the lovely ladies and stitch the day away, I had to get some S.E.X.!

As a little Christmas present to myself I bought some Cresent Colours (no specific colors, just ones that I thought were pretty), “Celtic Summer,” by Marilyn Levitt-Imblum, “The Nutcracker” by Country Cottage Kids, and the letter “R,” and “Portrait of Lauren in Blue” by Nora Corbett. I also bought a swatch of pink hand-dyed fabric and 805 of the Magenta range in Needlepoint Silks.

I bought the pink fabby and the silks for “Austrian I” by Bleu de Chine from the latest JCS and started that while I was at the stitching group. All of the ladies were very friendly to me and I got to see some great projects! Juls brought some of her stitching to show me and I got to see her “Quaker Christmas” in person. All I could think while seeing her things was how much more impressive projects always are in real life…

Portrait of Lauren in Blue, Progress as of 28.12.09 - Click for a larger image! But as much as I like “Austrian I,” I totally fell in love with “Portrait of Lauren in Blue” and just couldn’t resist starting her yesterday. I guess I was craving a Nora Corbett design because I think that I am enjoying this project entirely too much! And the best part about Lauren? She is about half to one-third the size of a “regular” Mirabilia!

I still have the rest of this week off so I plan on stitching as much as I can and who knows? I may have one last happy dance before the end of the decade!

Framed Flo

Look at what I got back from the framer today!

Fairy Flora - Framed

Didn’t she turn out beautifully?! Thanks to Penny at Stitches from the Heart for doing such a wonderful framing job! :)

Flo-tastic!

After three (3) years, twenty one (21) days, 207.5 hours stitching, and 28 hours beading, may I present in all her Mirabilia glory… Fairy Flora!!!

So Close…

It’s getting late tonight so I probably won’t have it until tomorrow, but I am super close to a happy dance… betcha can’t guess which one it is! ;)

Goals for a New Month

For February, I planned to:

  • Participate in the February SAT. – Yep!
  • Finish “Kitty Cottage Sampler.” – Yep!
  • Work on (and hopefully finish) “Summer’s Magic.” – Yep! Worked on AND finished it!
  • Start beading “Fairy Flora.” – Yep!
  • Participate in February NaBloPoMo. – Nope!

Stitching-wise, February was a very successful month. Blogging-wise, not so much. Oh well, that’s the way it goes I suppose.

Now, for March, I plan to:

  • Participate in the March SAT.
  • Continue beading and hopefully finish “Fairy Flora.” (On March 15, I will pass the 3 year mark on Flo. I’d like to finish her by then, but I will be satisfied if I get her done by the end of the month.)
  • Work on “Four Seasons Cats – Fall.”

That’s it. That’s all I am going to shoot for in March. During the second week in March I will be on Spring Break and I am going to visit some friends. However, since they aren’t stitchers I probably won’t even take my stitching with me. In addition, I have a bunch of writing to do for my writing class before we meet again at the end of the month so I anticipate most of my time in March will be focused on that instead of my stitching.
