Although the world has a clock that runs from 00:00 to 23:59 each day, for me the day doesn’t end until I go to bed, sleep for a certain amount of time, and wake up. What does this mean? Well, it means that even though my watch says it is 01:20 and is technically Sunday, January 4, as far as I am concerned it is still Saturday, January 3. Therefore when I post this entry I am going to count it as my Saturday entry to fulfill my daily blogging commitment. Yes, I know I have just posted 117 words of pure drivel but the point is I have written today… and that is all that matters.

Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?: Hmm… I don’t think I made any New Year’s resolutions last year. I don’t have any plans to make any this year either.
Did anyone close to you give birth?: Yep! Dawn had Megan in September. A couple of other people that I know had babies too, but I am not especially close to them.
Did anyone close to you die?: Not exactly. My dad’s cousin died (I think that makes him my first cousin, once removed), but I didn’t know him very well.
What countries did you visit?: Does Arkansas count as another country?
What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?: Some of the “things” that I left at my mom’s house when I moved to Texas because the moving van ran out of room.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?: Getting As in all of the graduate classes that I took.
What was your biggest failure?: I created a series of independent workshops that weren’t as well-attended as I had hoped. Oh well, there’s always next semester!
What was the best thing you bought?: My BED!!!!
Where did most of your money go?: Bills
What did you get really, really, really excited about?: My sister and my niece’s visit over Spring Break.
What song will always remind you of 2008?: I can’t think of anything in particular.
Did you fall in love in 2008?: I really, really like someone, but I am not ready to call it love.
How many one-night stands?: That is nobody’s business but my own.
What was your favorite TV program?: HOUSE!!! I also discovered Dexter and Weeds and like both of them a lot too.
Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?: I do not hate. It wastes too much time and energy.
What was the best book you read?: I don’t like the term “best.” It is too subjective. However, I had some favorite books. For class: The Godfather and The Jungle. For fun: The Little Book.
What was your greatest musical discovery?: Last.fm
What did you want and get?: A new bed.
What did you want and not get?: A new computer. (Actually I just started wanting a new computer a couple of months ago. I just need to save the money now.)
What were your favorite films of this year?: I have to say I was kind of disappointed with every film that I saw in the theater this year. Even The Dark Knight.
What did you do on your birthday?: On the actual night of my birthday I went out with some friends. However, I celebrated for something like two weeks. I went to New Mexico, I saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and my new bed was delivered.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?: Same as always. Blue jean casual
What kept you sane?: Writing in my journal. (My actual paper journal, not my blog.)
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?: I am not sure “fancy” is the right word, but I do like to look at the paparazzi pics of Suri Cruise. I think she is awfully cute!
What political issue stirred you the most?: I am not very political and don’t live in California, but I’d have to say “Proposition 8.”
Who did you miss?: My nice and nephew
Who was the best new person you met?: Technically I met him last year, but I really got to know Mr G and he is the best person I got to know this year.
Compared to this time last year, are you: Happier or sadder?: Happier
Thinner or fatter?: Of course I’d like to think I am thinner, but since I don’t own a scale I don’t know for sure. All my clothes still fit though so I suppose I am about the same.
Richer or poorer?: “Richer” – I actually managed to save some money this year!
What do you wish you’d done more of?: Stitching!
What do you wish you’d done less of?: Working!

Sleeping and Stitching

That’s what I have planned for the next ten days… and not necessarily in that order!

Actually, I have a few more things than that planned, but if I don’t do anything else with my time off I will feel like I had a productive Winter Break.

So, here is a list of other things I have planned for break. A couple of them are must-dos, but the rest are just optional. (Hint: Any item that begins with “clean” is optional.)

Feed Mr G’s kitty while he is at his family’s for Christmas.
Come up with something “fruity” to take to Christmas dinner at a friend’s house. (When asked what I should bring I was told “fruit.”)
Finish the cross stitching on “Fairy Flora.”
Read for fun.
Knit a little bit on the scarf I started back in June.
Do laundry (including bedding).
Vacuum my apartment.
Clean the bathroom.
Clean my stove.
Clean out and reorganize my closet.

Well, I am off to start one of the two most important items on my list… sleeping! ‘Night all.

This Year’s Holiday Meme

Sorry to cheat with a holiday meme tonight, but every year I have to answer at least one.

Candy cane or peppermint patties? Peppermint patties. I adore the mint/chocolate combination!
Sugar or gingerbread cookies? Sugar. I don’t like gingerbread.
Tinsel or beaded strands? Beaded strands. I think tinsel looks white-trashy.
Multi-colored or same-colored lights? It’s kind of a toss up. Although I am a big fan of multi-colored lights, I love way all blue ones look.
Flashing or still lights? I don’t like flashing ones that just blink on and off. If they are going to flash, they should have some sort of rhythm.
Wreaths or mistletoe/holly? No preference really.
Rudolph or Frosty? Rudolph.
Sledding or snowball fights? Snowball fights. I don’t like to be outside in the snow and cold very long and snowball fights have the advantage of being over quickly (usually).
Snow or ice/icicles? They are both pretty as long as I am looking at them from inside my cozy living room.
Snow hat or earmuffs? Earmuffs. I hate the way snow hats make my hair all static and fly-away.
Getting or giving? Getting!! What can I say? I’m selfish.
Snow days or plow trucks? Snow days. Who doesn’t like to stay inside and drink hot cocoa on a cold, snowy day?
Stockings or presents? I haven’t had a stocking since I was a kid, so I guess presents.
Cookies & milk or letter to Santa? Both. First you write the letter to Santa and then on Christmas Eve you leave cookies and milk as a thank you for the presents he brings you.
Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? Christmas Day. When I was a kid I hated Christmas Eve. The presents were just begging to be opened and you had to go to bed so Santa could come.
Log Burning Channel or real thing? There’s a log burning channel?
Cards or emails? I always have the best intention of sending cards, but since I always put it off people usually get emails instead.
Shoveling or cleaning off the car? Cleaning off the car. It’s much quicker.

Don’t Wanna

Wah! I don’t want to post tonight. I just don’t feel like writing. But since I have been doing so well with the whole NaBloPoMo thing, I will at least attempt to entertain you with some drivel this evening.

So… I stitched most of the evening and will have a happy dance sometime this weekend. It is my super-secret project for a certain someone so I won’t be able to show it for a while, but let me assure you this project is very precious.

I have to work tomorrow, but after that I will be on vacation until December 3. And guess where I am going for Thanksgiving?

To Dawn’s to see Baby Megan Renee! (And the rest of the family too, of course!)

I have a million things to do before I leave on Tuesday, but I am still going to try to fulfill my NaBloPoMo commitment… even if I have to enable mobile blogging so I can blog from the road.
