Padded Shape Ornie Tutorial

Supplies:

  • Paper and Pen or Pencil (for pattern)
  • Matte Board
  • Scissors
  • Quilt Batting
  • Stitched Needlework
  • Tacky Glue
  • Cording, Ribbon, Perle Cotton (optional)

Directions:

Step 1 - Click for a larger image! 1.) Cut a pattern in the shape and size you need. Mark center.
Step 2 - Click for a larger image! 2.) Trace around your pattern on the matte board and cut out. (Make 2)
Step 3 - Click for a larger image! 3.) Glue quilt batting onto matte board and trim if necessary.

4.) Center needlework onto the quilted sided of the matte board.

Step 5 - Click for a larger image! 5.) Trim needlework ¼ – ½ ” around matte board.
Step 6 - Click for a larger image! 6.) Glue needlework to matte board. If the shape is rounded, cut notches around fabric to make the needlework easier to glue down. (Do twice)
Step 7 - Click for a larger image! 7.) Place under a book and let dry.
Step 8 - Click for a larger image! 8.) Using perle cotton, ribbon, or cording, glue hanger to one side.
Step 9 - Click for a larger image! 9.) Line up and glue front and back pieces together.
Step 10 - Click for a larger image! 10.) Glue on cording and add a tassel to the bottom. (Optional)
Step 11 - Click for a larger image! 11.) Hang on Christmas tree! :)
